5/07/08: NEB FIRST LAUNCH FOR 2008


It's been a long cold winter outside but the NEB composite boat building crew has been working overtime in preparation for the launch of American owner, Hap Fauth's IRC 69 ReichelpPugh design. The pre preg carbon offshore racer is the latest evolution of highly successful designs form the California based naval architects. A full schedule of testing and sail trials begins this week. Bella Mente's crew are well aware that any formal plans to celebrate the launch will have to wait until after this yacht's first offshore test- the annual Block Island Race on May 23. Less than a month later Bella Mente will be on the starting line for the Bi-Annual Newport-Bermuda Race. The Gibbs hill lighthouse division of this year's race will be hotly contested by recent designs from the leading international design teams. This state of the art race yacht from NEB will meet stiff competition from builders representing several different countries.
