02/20/14: Winter Social and Work Shop Tour

On February 20th NEB owners and service managers hosted an evening social at the Melville Grill, attended by about 30 past and present marina and storage customers incorporating a tour of our new buildings and work shop spaces to showcase what many do not realize goes on “behind the doors”.

Highlights of the tour included a new race boat currently under construction, including hull, deck and structural parts in progress, waiting to be assembled, two 50 foot aluminum work boats under construction and a Swan 82 in the last stages of an extensive refit, for launch this month. We also walked through the “small parts” shop, including our 5 axis CNC milling machine, metal shops including various projects in aluminum, stainless steel and titanium, the joinery department, again with various projects under construction and many samples of panels and detailed work from previous projects. For the mechanically inclined we also visited the mechanical, electrical, refrigeration and plumbing shop, recently remodeled to enhance efficiency.

Due to the weather we were unable to visit the further reaches of the yard but as weather improves we look forward to hosting similar events and to show off our new building 1, currently in the final construction stages.
