A luxury motoryacht with a 28-knot top speed, the C. Raymond Hunt 90-footer built by New England Boatworks showcases our advanced composite technology. The tremendous weight savings realized through NEB's construction materials and techniques resulted in significantly higher fuel economy, a high cruise and top speed, and a more stable ride in a seaway (the saving of weight in the yacht's deck, superstructure, and accommodations lowered the center of gravity and increased stability).

The freedom of composite construction allowed -- and even encouraged -- us to not only incorporate a number of NEB's proven innovations into the Hunt 90 foot but to develop new solutions along the way. The yacht carries 4,000 gallons of fuel in specially-engineered integral fuel tanks; the tanks, coated with NEB's proprietary modified-epoxy, are maintenance-free (no rust or corrosion) and place the considerable weight of the fuel as low as possible, adding to the yacht's stability. The engineered application of Kevlar in the yacht's hull increased the strength and collision-resistance of the laminate, and the structural properties of Core-Cell foam core translated into superior panel stiffness and acoustic and thermal insulation. We've utilized high-tech materials in the yacht's interior, too; all furniture components are constructed of stiff, weight-saving panels of wood veneer/Nomex core. The deep satin finish showcases the detailed woodwork, upon which our Joinery Team's reputation is built. The Hunt 90 was as exciting a project for us as it was for the Owner.

An enclosed flying bridge forms both office and pilothouse, leaving the main deck entirely free for a spacious and continuous living-dining area. Below deck are four staterooms accommodating an Owner's party of eight, and forward is a large galley and quarters for up to four crew. Much emphasis has been placed on gear storage and freezer capacity, indicating the Owner's intention to cruise widely in little-frequented areas. Cored composite construction provides both lightness and toughness, and aids performance. The yacht's slim hull and Hunt deep-V bottom, leveled by "smart" trim-tabs, provides comfortable running in boisterous conditions.
