BELLA MENTE

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Hap Fauth's Bella Mente, an IRC 69 from Reichel/Pugh design, is a yacht that looks as beautiful as she is fast. Every engineering and mechanical refinement was made with an eye on performance. Bella Mente features a flush deck, a Southern Spars rig with internal halyard locks, the latest carbon rigging and an innovative inhauler system that enables trimmers to set sheeting angles with precision on either side. Power for trimming large masthead kites comes from Harken carbon winches and deck gear together with hydraulics from Navtec. Bella Mente first race was the June Newport-Bermuda Race where she took line honors. The crew will continue tuning, training and sail testing before shipping to the Mediterranean in July for her big test at the Maxi Worlds.

Construction on another Reichel/Pugh design race yacht, Titan VII, is well underway. This 75' IRC Maxi racer has been commissioned by American owner Tom Hill. Using the latest technology and materials, the boat is slated to debut during early 2009 in Florida and the Caribbean.
